Staying here was actually so life changing and I am so grateful for the amazing experience I had while at the farm. What will I learn during the Homesteading course at Humboldt Experience?

At Humboldt Experience Farmstay, you’ll gain comprehensive, hands-on knowledge in various aspects of homesteading. This includes growing, harvesting, and preserving fruits, vegetables, berries, and herbs; basic animal care for chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, sheep, goats, and a dairy cow; sustainable building and permaculture techniques; and even how to manage a homestead’s waste systems. Munro, with his extensive experience and certifications, including two in Permaculture Design, will be your guide through this learning journey.

What are the living arrangements like during the course?

All participants are provided with comfortable accommodation as part of the course fee. The living arrangements are designed to give you a true feel of off-grid living, surrounded by nature and supported by sustainable practices. This immersive experience is both enriching and essential to understanding the homesteading lifestyle.

How much does the course cost, and what is included in the fee?

The cost of the Homesteading course is $1000 per person per month, or $1,500 for couples. This fee includes all meals—made from fresh, organic ingredients from the farm—and accommodation. You will also receive a personalized plan to develop specific skills and knowledge during your stay. Participants are expected to contribute three hours of help each weekday between 9 AM and noon, engaging directly in farm activities.

Can I join the Homesteading course with no prior experience in farming or living off-grid?

Absolutely! Our Homesteading course is designed for individuals and couples at any skill level, from beginners to those with some experience in gardening or farming. The course is structured to provide foundational knowledge and practical skills, with plenty of support from Munro and the team. Whether you’re just starting or looking to deepen your existing knowledge, you’ll find valuable learning opportunities here.
